When a Scent Becomes Part of a Place

I've been working on the Signature Scent Service for about five months now.

The idea came from something I've always found interesting about fragrance. A smell can completely change how you feel in a space, and it can also become something you associate with a particular place, person or time.

Then, as part of my day job, I got to visit some fairly fancy hotels in Dublin recently and noticed that quite a few of them have their own scent throughout the hotel. You'd smell it in the lobby, in the lifts and around different parts of the building. And I thought, okay, I'm definitely onto something here.

I've also started teaching one yoga class a week, so I've been thinking about how I could use it myself.

I'd love to have the same scent in my class each week. Eventually, I'd hope that people would walk into the room, smell it and associate it with their yoga class. Maybe it becomes one of those little things that helps you switch out of your normal day and into the hour you've set aside for yourself.

That's what I'm trying to create with the Signature Scent Service.

You choose a fragrance from my Signature Scent collection and I can make it into candles, wax melts or reed diffusers for your space. You can also add your own branding to the labels, so it still feels like part of your business.

I’m mainly thinking about yoga or Pilates studios, salons, treatment rooms, massage or therapy spaces. Smaller businesses where the owner has put a lot of thought into how the space looks, feels and smells.

The same scent can then be used throughout your space and, over time, become something your customers recognise.
