I’m Gradie, originally from Drogheda but have been based in Drumcondra for the last couple of years. :)

I first started making candles as a small business between 2020 and 2022. I loved every bit of it, but when I began working full-time in tourism, I put the business on hold.

A few years later, after reaching a fairly impressive level of stressed-out-all-round-mess, I realised I needed to take a step back and rethink things.

In September 2025, I left my job and started a 200-hour yoga teacher training, which I graduated from in March 2026. During that time, I found myself missing candle making and wanting to get back to something creative and hands-on. I also wanted to explore how yoga could fit into my work in a way that felt natural.

And that’s where Light & Align began.

I’m now making candles and home fragrance again, teaching one yoga class a week, and back working full-time in tourism. So I’ve somehow ended up with candles, yoga and tourism all happening at once. :)

For now, I’m happy keeping Light & Align small and manageable, and seeing where it goes.

Everything is handmade at home, mostly a one-woman show, with the occasional help from family and friends when I need an extra pair of hands. :)

The name comes from the two things at the heart of the brand idea: Light = candles, Align = yoga.

My unintentional motto has become ‘a little bit hippie, a little bit practical’; colourful without being over the top, chilled out but not overly woo-woo, thoughtful without trying to be perfect.

I wanted to create high quality, eco-conscious products that felt natural and easy to fit into everyday life, while also reflecting a bit of personality and the 60s/70s hippie-ish vibe I love. Essentially, products that I would look for in shops for myself. :)

Light & Align currently focuses on small-batch, handmade home fragrance products, including candles, personalised candles, wax melts, car diffusers, gift sets and wax burners.

I also offer the Signature Scent Service for wellness spaces, studios and salons, where businesses can choose a scent and have it made into branded candles, wax melts or reed diffusers for their space.

Everything is made by me at home, using coconut & rapeseed wax and phthalate-free fragrance oils, with recyclable or lower-waste packaging wherever possible.

Alongside the products, I’m now teaching one weekly yoga class, bringing the two sides of Light & Align together in a way that feels natural.

Soon I plan on bringing some candle-making workshops into the mix. Watch this space!
